Short Updates during Tanker Runs

Interstate 15 is closed through the Cajon Pass through due to power lines damaged over the freeway.

Evacuees are being sent to the Orange Show Fairgrounds, 689 S. E St. San Bernardino, CA, 92408 and to the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds in Victorville at Building #3 on 7th Street. Animal Control is establishing an emergency evacuation center for animals at Wildwood Park at 40th Street and Waterman in San Bernardino. They're going to be over in the area of Spyglass and Augusta; "over there where the fire is spotting and all that."

AA15 over the fire at first light tomorrow. AA15 states all aircraft including news media are off the incident.

Slide Fire: Fire is 1/2 mile from the camp and now they're leaving; we have bodies staged in that general; approx 400 yards from the bottom of Deep Creek; then it will have to come up Deep Creek; we're not thinking immediate threat yet.

Skyforest is reportedly now under a voluntary evacuation. According to reports, the voluntary evacuation has also been extended to Crestline. 40-King, the Sheriff's Department helicoptor, made announcements in the Crestline area before 5 PM.
Tanker 910 completed a third drop for the Grass Valley incident.

"Need hand crews in the Trinity area; a lot of work to be done; hand crews we have are keeping it out of {Miller?} Canyon right now."

{Out of area - but may effect evacuees} "Caltrans and CHP on Scanner report 15 freeway will remain closed until tomorrow. Will make next decision no earlier than 1400 hours Tuesday."

Tanker 910 completed the first drop for Grass Valley fire, returning to base to refill retardant. Objective of Tanker 910 is to lay in retardant line between active fire and Rimforest/Crestline area. Anticipates being able to make 2-3 more drops before cut-off time.

Highways 18, 330, and 138 are closed to residents; residents down the hill are not allowed to their homes; they're keeping everybody off the hill due to fire activity, no ETA for reopening.

Contacts in Cedar Glen say that things are going OK over in that area.

L'Urbz got a fire update from NBC4's website for the Grass Valley Hotline-- (909) 383-5688. He was told that there was a change in direction of the fire going from Grandview toward Crestline more than Highway 189.

I also noticed via personal IM's, MySpace and Facebook posts that many people are still on the mountain in all areas. Please make the right choices and be safe.

Through word-of-mouth, I have received two negatives and two positives toward the Twin Peaks area (between 5pm and 6:15pm). One of the negatives was from a high-level official from the fire teams who was severely worried that the fire will going up and through Twin Peaks onto Crestline. When I heard it, it sort of took my breath away.
